Label Information: Sizes, Materials and Artwork
Label sizes and shapes, glossy, matte and estate paper materials, and artwork specs for print-ready custom wine labels.
Sizes, shapes, materials and artwork requirements for the labels we print and apply, plus a note on how the on-screen preview relates to the finished label. These specs apply to every order of Napa wine with your label on it.
Label Sizes and Shapes
Our design templates are built on a set of standard formats. When you upload your own artwork you choose one of these blanks, or enter your own dimensions.
- Large vertical
- Large horizontal
- Poster horizontal
- Square and medium square
- Fancy cut: regal
- Fancy cut: medium circle and extra large circle
- Custom size: select the Custom Size option when setting up your design and enter the width and height you need. There is no additional charge.
Because our labels are die-cut digitally after printing rather than printed onto pre-cut sheets, custom shapes and tight borders are straightforward.
Materials
Glossy laminated
Crisp color and a bright, reflective finish under a durable laminate. The most vivid of the three.
Matte laminated
A non-reflective laminate with a smooth, velvety look. Same durability as glossy with a softer appearance.
Estate paper
A traditional wine label stock with a subtle texture and classic uncoated finish. Wet-strength paper with heat-cured inks gives strong adhesion and excellent water resistance. The inks are more prone to abrasion than laminated stock, so avoid rubbing against rough surfaces such as cardboard.

Artwork Specifications
- File types: JPG, JPEG, PNG or GIF.
- Resolution: 300 dpi at final print size. Web images at 72 dpi will look soft in print, and enlarging a small file does not add detail.
- Bleed: if artwork runs to the edge, extend it 1/16 inch (0.0625 in) beyond the trim on all sides.
- Color: design in CMYK for the closest match to print. Monitor colors are a guide only.
- Rights: upload only images you own or have permission to use.
Every file is checked by our team before printing. If an image is too small or something looks off, we contact you before we go to press. More detail is in the artwork section of the Help Center.
About the On-Screen Preview
The label preview in the design tool is a close representation for proofing purposes. Browsers cannot reproduce print exactly, so the finished label will print more crisply and may show slight differences in letter spacing. Each design is handled individually by our team to ensure the best possible result.
Applying Labels Yourself
Most orders arrive with the labels already applied. If you order labels on their own, step-by-step application and removal instructions are in the Help Center.
